I wanted to explore some of the different tonal spaces that the clarinet can occupy by layering, looping, and processing the sound of the instrument. I also added some cute little beats and sounds so you can maybe bob your shoulders or enjoy yourself in a relaxing situation like a nice bath or cozy bed.
I recorded the clarinet parts at home in Brooklyn, New York and did most of the arranging and mixing while on tour in the southwest and west coast of the US, resulting in a listening experience reflecting my personal soundscape as I moved between chaotic, dense human-made spaces and serene natural beauty. The sounds that emerged from this process addressed my own need for grounding and healing during a time of inner turmoil set against a backdrop of sublime landscapes.
